Local Community Outreach
Mission Work Doesn't Require Crossing an Ocean
Dr. Sapian's commitment to serving underserved communities extends right here in North Texas — where neighbors helping neighbors is the heart of community care.
International missions get a lot of attention — and rightly so. But some of the most meaningful dental outreach happens close to home, in the communities where we live and work. Dr. Schubert Sapian has participated in local community dental outreach in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, bringing free dental care to people who might otherwise go without.

In March 2026, Dr. Sapian participated in a free dental clinic held at Garland Faith Community Seventh-day Adventist Church in Garland, Texas. The event was a collaborative effort involving Dr. Sapian, Texas A&M University College of Dentistry, and other dental volunteers who came together to provide free dental care to community members who may have difficulty accessing or affording regular dental treatment.

Why local outreach matters
Dental Need Is Closer Than You Think
It's easy to assume that dental access problems only exist in developing countries. The reality is that millions of Americans — including many in the Dallas–Fort Worth area — struggle to access affordable dental care. Cost, lack of insurance, transportation barriers, and fear of the dentist all contribute to a significant unmet need right in our own communities. Local dental outreach events help bridge that gap, even if only for a day.
It takes a team
Collaboration Makes It Possible
The Garland free dental clinic — like all successful community outreach events — was made possible by the collaboration of many people and organizations. Dr. Sapian was joined by dental students and faculty from Texas A&M University College of Dentistry, fellow volunteer dentists and hygienists, church staff and community volunteers, and local community members who helped spread the word and welcome patients.

The philosophy
Service Is Part of the Practice
For Dr. Sapian, community outreach is not a separate activity from his dental practice — it is an extension of the same values that guide his work every day. The same care and skill he brings to patients at Essential Dental Care in Grand Prairie is what he brings to a free clinic in Garland or a mission clinic in the Philippines. The setting changes; the commitment to the patient does not.
"Sometimes the greatest opportunity to serve is right in your own community."
